From Helpless to Hopeful: Our Journey with Eczema

It all started with one small irritated red spot on his chin. Our little one, barely 3 months old, would rub his chin but would otherwise be unbothered. The small on his chin turned into oozy spots on his head, and now his cheek. What started so small had quickly grew. By 6 months old he began scratching his skin so severely that it would bleed. Each morning, I’d wake up to find his bed sheets covered in blood, his skin ozzy and crusted over and my heart would break every single time. The helplessness I felt during those early days was unbearable. 😢

There were countless nights when I prayed, asking, “Why us?” and wondering why my baby had to endure such pain. We tried everything – steroids, antibiotics, and even stronger medications – all before he even turned 6 months old. The doctors assured us it was the right course of action, but a deep fear lingered within me. I couldn’t shake the feeling that these medications weren’t addressing the root cause; they were just masking the problem. 😔

I knew something had to change. I couldn’t just follow the medical advice without questioning the bigger picture. That’s when our journey of seeking alternative, more natural solutions began. I needed to find something that would actually help our little one without causing more harm or merely covering up the symptoms. Something that would treat the problem at its core.

It’s been a long, often challenging road, and I’m still learning every day. But through it all, I’ve come to realize one thing for sure: As much as I love my son, God loves him even more and cares for him in ways I can’t even comprehend. I’m not alone in this journey, and neither are you.

That’s why I’m sharing our story and what we’ve learned so far. It’s my hope that by opening up about our experiences, some of what has helped us might also help you and your little one. I don’t have all the answers but I want to share what I’ve found, from tips to resources, in the hopes that it can bring comfort or relief to you going through similar struggles.

Follow along for more as we continue learning, growing, and finding hope in the midst of it all.
